At the height of his influence, Charles Spurgeon licensed his name and image to an incredible variety of makers of ephemeral goods; photographers, publishers, tobacconists, and makers of fine goods.
T. Stevens of Coventry was one of the finest makers of woven silk goods in the UK at the time. He is today best remembered for his fine small silk panels and bookmarks. They are not printed, but finely woven images. He was apparently deeply interested in the Evangelical cause. He produced panels or bookmarks of C. H. Spurgeon, John Bunyan, memorializing the Great Ejection of 1662, etc.
This example in fine condition, retaining original dangle. This is often lacking.
