This scarf features the MiriMay pattern. The pattern is woven into the scarf in a way that creates a subtle reverse on the back.

Crafted in a luxurious blend of 60% Merino wool, 30% Possum, and 10% Mulberry silk, this mid-to-heavyweight scarf offers warmth and a dense, structured feel without bulk. The two-tone design, black on natural,creates a striking visual contrast.

Generously sized at approximately 160cm x 45cm. Weight: 370g.

Care: Very Gentle cold hand wash with wool detergent. Dry flat in shade. Can be dry cleaned.

This scarf features the Mirimay pattern - a mihi to my Nan (Miri) and Grandma (Ida May), creative and resilient wāhine, Māori and Scottish.
It combines poutama, the first tukutuku design my Nan taught me,  with intersecting lines that reference Scottish tartan. It speaks to the passing of knowledge across generations, carried through whakapapa, memory, and making. The layout and composition are inspired by kōwhaiwhai principles - reflecting balance, flow, and repetition.
