Roberts, Revival Literature, no. 4335. "On the 1840 revival in Aberdeen."

An exceptionally rare account of the hearings and controversy surrounding the revivals under William Chalmers Burns [later of China; mentored J. Hudson Taylor] while M'Cheyne was on sabbatical in Palestine. Much of the controversy surrounded the physical manifestations and emotional responses during the services. Participants include Alexander Leslie, Alexander Laing, James Kerr, Horatius Bonar, Andrew A. Bonar, Robert M. M'Cheyne, W. C. Burns, &c. The Presbytery's conclusion of the matter, after a full examination, is one of approval, and recommends the furtherance of revival work among their churches. The Appendix is a reprint of the Circular addressed to the individuals questioned, a lengthy extract from the Aberdeen Herald on the Revival, some letters, &c.

No other copies for sale, and not available in reprint. We have never handled another example.
