Cloak yourself in craftsmanship and tradition with this beautiful Afghani vest...

The ultimate in counterculture (Hippie & Boho) wear, this vest took a lot of time and skill to make! Technically unisex, this vest has a heavy weight cotton or rayon velveteen (short pile velvet) exterior, with a light blue cotton lining. The colorful shapes are cut from various pieces of velvet, then appliquéd onto the black base, and top stitched with a decorative cord trim. It phenomenal to think of the work that went into this piece, especially when one observes the placement of the loosely braided trim along the edges of neckline, center front and hem (those are three pieces literally sewn down in an open braid!). The overall condition is excellent, with general obvious wear. I have patched the lining in three places where the fabric was worn thin. The top button loop was repaired at some point, and is a little tight. The only label reads 'Made in Afghanistan, Velvet'.
