Unlike nylon, silk netting can be steamed into shape resulting in a more sculptural design. It is nearly impossible to get the same results from nylon. As you can imagine this type of netting is very hard to find, and as far as we know is not being made any longer. Due to the delicate nature of the netting it is very easy to accidentally poke holes through it while handling the hat.
