Omega first began applying "Genève" to the dials of their dressier 30mm watches in 1953. This was in honour of their 30mm calibre that set records at the Geneva Observatory. By 1967 the name began to be applied to models throughout Omega's range. 

The Geneve is the perfect entry-level vintage Swiss watch, many variations of the model were produced from the early 1950s up until the early 1980s, united by their simple 3 hand designs, amalgamating into a stylish and wearable collection of which this is a really nice example.

The quintessential dress watch, a vintage Omega Geneve Calendar in 18k gold. Originally a presentation watch, it was awarded to a J.Cox in recognition of 25yrs service at a company named AAC, (The Anglo American Corporation of South Africa (AAC), the largest gold mining house in the world). It's likely to have been a much-cherished gift and maybe is partially why the watch is so well preserved, at over 60 years old, it has aged very well! The beautiful silver dial does have some minor blemishes at 12 o'clock, but nothing of much concern, it is otherwise in very nice shape.

Applied gold batons with onyx inserts mark the hour plots and correspond with the slim pencil hands. A discreet date wheel sits at 3 o'clock and a needle seconds hand sweeps elegantly around the dial underneath Omega signed Plexiglas. The 18k gold case bears only minimal signs of wear-certainly nothing noteworthy, with nice sharp lugs and an Omega-signed crown. The date mechanism is quickset and the watch is powered by the Omega 565 calibre, adjusted to five positions and giving 50hrs of power. Paired with a tan leather strap with an Omega pin buckle, this is a stylish watch with bags of charisma and looks fantastic on the wrist.
