Beautiful 1970's shirtwaist dress by Mollie Parnis. Bodice is a wrap with metal hooks and eye closing. Long sleeves are balloon style with wide cuffs closing with self buttons. Collar is pointed, set-in waist with full skirt. Each hip side holds a side seam pocket. The bodice is lined while the skirt is not. Patterned fabric is a soft polyester blend in a light tangerine color.

Excellent condition with no issues other than the missing belt. It has been freshly cleaned.

No size is indicated so please check the measurements carefully. Keep in mind there is no give in this fabric.

Label is Mollie Parnis Boutique which was launched in 1970. The following information is provided courtesy of the Vintage Fashion Guild. Mollie Parnis began as a designer for David Westheim in the late 1920's. In 1933 she and her husband, Leon Livingston, formed Parnis-Livingston, for which she was designer. By the 1940s she was designing under her own name only. Her most prevalent designs during the 1950s were extremely full-skirted shirtwaist dresses and straight-skirted suits with short boxy jackets. Parnis’ most famous customer in the 1950s was Mamie Eisenhower. In the 1960s she continued to dress First Ladies, including Lady Bird Johnson and Pat Nixon. She was fond of patterned fabrics, which became more geometric and bolder. In the 1970s she continued her association with the White House, dressing Betty Ford and Rosalynn Carter.
