Stainless steel won't rust on its own, so painting is purely cosmetic. If you want them ceramic-coated or painted for looks, that's up to you—do it before bolting them on. Raw stainless will patina slightly over time but stays structurally sound.

Will these fit my stock exhaust system, or do I need new piping downstream?

These bolt directly to factory mounting points, so your stock mid-pipe and muffler will connect at the header outlet. If you want to upgrade the rest of your exhaust for better flow, that's a separate choice—but you won't need new parts just to make these work.
