Lots of great details on this 30s dress, from the rope effect cut-out neckline to the bishops sleeves with deep buttoned cuffs. From well-to-do West London antique dealer turned department store Druce’s, inevitably my favourite thing is the colourful glass beaded floral details to the sleeves.

Side snaps to close. Rope fronted belt is tacked to the front, so flexible fit at waist. Hand stitched hem. 

It does have some minor flaws (see photos/condition report below)  so have priced accordingly and selling as is rather than faff with it, as it’s completely wearable as it comes. 

Measures:  Labelled a 44

Bust 44” (actual - this then drapes and gathers)

Waist 40” when attached rope half belt unfastened today rear, so needs to fit over bust of no more than this ideally!

Hips 46” max

Length from nape to hem approx 40” - possibly shortened? 

Condition: 

Strong and wearable, with a few very small pinholes/scuffs to the sleeveheads as shown.

One small hole to the bust (wear a black camisole, or add some more symmetrical sunray pintucks had been my plan that I didn’t get around to executing..)

Top two buttons are replacements, one more missing top of neck fastening and loop tacked behind - I’d replace them all to match.

Handstutched repair to front neckline (you could neaten this but as it’s black it’s not obvious)

A few missing decorative beads but majority intact and secure.
