The history of IWC’s popular Big Pilot’s Watch stretches further back in time than the history of most wristwatches. The company from Schaffhausen has a rich history of producing timepieces for use in the cockpit. IWC produced its first Pilot’s watch in 1936, named the "Special Pilot’s Watch".

IWC first made pilots watch for the German Air Force, in 1940. Observation watches inspired the styling for 55-mm-diameter timepieces, although this is a much more wearable watch at 46mm! Originally designed as dependable and exact instruments for the cockpit, Pilot’s Watches are now treasured sports timepieces that prove their worth in everyday situations.

Engineered for the most extreme aviation conditions, the Top Gun Edition watches challenge every notion of what a civilian watch can be. This particular watch is a special numbered edition that features a stunning case made of sand-coloured ceramic that is inspired by the unforgiving desert and made of specially formulated ceramic which is known to be one of the hardest materials on the planet.

Painstakingly engineered the case and material used, has been rigorously tested and received a Vickers rating second only to that of diamonds. This 2019 example is number 75 of only 500 in existence and is in superb shape. The watch was launched in approximately 2019 and was only available through IWC Boutiques - and it barely looks worn!

Supplied with its original box and paperwork, this is a fantastic opportunity to acquire a very rare watch from IWC that saw 25 engineering firms, 70 construction companies, and 100 craftsmen work for 2 years to make it a reality - that's some effort!
