This vintage MCM faux pearl braided gold chain necklace is a Napier statement piece to say the least! Napier Jewelry company is an American brand of costume jewelry that manufactured quality items. Costume jewelry in the 1920s was often ornately embellished. Napier earned its reputation by standing out from the pack with simpler, sleeker designs. During this era imitation pearls were the most in demand, even among the wealthier classes. Jewelers offered a range of qualities in imitation pearls, some fetching a very high price, and often preferred to genuine pearls because of their “indestructible” properties. This craftsmanship exhibited in this necklace is a marvel! The pearls graduate in size with smaller pearls towards the back of the neck, increasing in size to larger pearls are the front of the neck. And all of the pearls are woven in a braided manner with multiple gold plated chains. Timeless, elegant, and a smart wardrobe addition MCM lovers....dress them down or dress them up!
