Very rare, early 1990s vintage evening ensemble from French couturier, Paul-Louis Orrier, comprises a magnificent jacquard jacket paired with a navy blue silk chiffon dress. The asymmetrical jacket is an intricate, deco-inspired fabric in gold lame, navy and white; a wide portrait collar; long sleeves that are flared at the cuffs; and three large goldtone buttons. The fabric is a combination of polyester, silk and wool. The companion dress is silk chiffon with a draped neckline, ruched cummerbund, flexible boning in the bodice, spaghetti straps that cross in back, and multiple layers of asymmetrical chiffon that are gathered on the side. (Notice how the cut of the jacket follows the angle of the skirt in the back.) Labeled French size 44 which in modern sizing most often corresponds to a US size 12.
