A refined 1970s Piaget Model Ref: 9154 in solid 18k gold with fluted square case, original gold pin buckle and timeless vintage charm
Founded in 1874, Piaget has built its reputation on ultra-thin movements and refined, elegant designs that seamlessly blend watchmaking with high jewellery. The 9P movement, introduced in 1957, was one of the world’s thinnest mechanical calibres at the time and became the cornerstone for many of Piaget’s dress watches throughout the 1960s and 70s. With their distinctive case shapes and precious metal construction, vintage Piaget pieces like this are now highly coveted for their timeless sophistication and technical ingenuity.
We are delighted to offer for sale this elegant Piaget dress watch in solid 18k gold, dating from the 1970s—a period that saw Piaget creating some of its most distinctive and refined designs. The beautifully proportioned square case with its fluted edges is very much of the era and catches the light wonderfully, while the vertically brushed gold-tone dial is signed simply “Piaget” at 12 o’clock and “Swiss” at 6 o’clock, allowing the minimalist aesthetic to shine.
On close inspection, the dial shows a couple of minor imperfections consistent with its age, but we feel these only enhance its vintage charm and will be appreciated by collectors who value the natural ageing process of these beautiful watches. We have also taken into account these imperfections when pricing this watch! The slender dauphine hands complement the dial perfectly, and the watch is fitted to a black leather strap with its original 18k gold Piaget pin buckle, completing the luxurious package. On the wrist, this Piaget has a timeless elegance and a distinct 1970s character that is sure to appeal to those with a love for classic Swiss watchmaking.
