Omega's Seamaster line was introduced in 1948, and it is Omega's longest running line. They were originally made to be waterproof for the British Royal Navy to use during WWII. Omega has been one of the most popular, versatile and quality brands in watchmaking for the past 70 years.
You cannot change my mind on vintage Omega - and particularly vintage Seamaster - they are wonderful!
This is an exceptionally charming example of an early Omega Seamaster, reference 2576-12, dating to circa 1950 — a time when the Seamaster was still a relatively new line in Omega’s catalogue.
This elegant automatic model features a wonderfully aged ecru dial, now boasting a warm sepia tone with an even, attractive patina. It showcases applied faceted arrowhead indices, Breguet-style Arabic numerals at 3, 9 and 12, and stylish Dauphine hands retaining their original lume. A recessed sub-dial at 6 o’clock adds a touch of vintage refinement, balanced beautifully by the applied Omega logo and signature.
The stainless steel case remains in excellent pre-owned condition, showing only light, age-appropriate signs of wear. This example predates 1957, before Omega began engraving the famous hippocampus emblem on the case backs of Seamasters — a lovely detail that marks it out as one of the earlier models in the line’s evolution.
Powered by the reliable Omega Calibre 342 automatic movement, this piece delivers both mechanical integrity and timeless style. Completed by a black leather strap, it’s a versatile and handsome vintage Omega that captures the understated elegance of 1950s design.
A classic Seamaster through and through — honest, characterful, and beautifully preserved.
