A Superb Oversized (36mm) Rolex Super Precision Air King, Model ref: 5504, From 1962, Sold With Box and Papers

The Rolex Air King, a timepiece renowned for its simplicity and functionality, has a fascinating history that spans over six decades. Introduced in 1945 at the end of World War II, it was designed to honour the British Royal Air Force pilots who bravely fought during the war. The Air King quickly gained popularity due to its accuracy, durability, and understated elegance.

This is a beautiful example of the (oversized) 36mm Air-King with a beautiful white dial which has developed a rather attractive speckling of even patina. The dial also boasts applied polish metal hour plots with luminous pips, slim pencil hands which also contain luminous inserts and a central seconds hand. The dial is completed with the Rolex signature and the Rolex coronet at 12 o'clock. The shatterproof Plexiglas is superb condition as are the stainless steel case and lugs - all have been very well taken care of clearly! The caseback does have an engraving which reads R Simmons 1962. The bracelet is ref: 78360. This watch is presented for sale with its original box and papers which is a rare find indeed, especially in such fantastic condition! Also, it is worth noting, that this watch is larger than the original 1940s Air King which was 34mm.
