Does the clear coat need to be reapplied, or can I paint over it?

The factory clear coat protects the carbon weave during transit and storage. If you're matching factory paint, sand the clear coat lightly and apply your topcoat directly. If you prefer the natural carbon look, the existing clear coat is sufficient — just inspect edges for any minor scuffing and touch up as needed.

Will the carbon fiber yellow or fade in sunlight?

Real carbon fiber is stable, but the clear coat itself can yellow over time without UV protection. Your factory clear coat provides baseline protection. To maintain the finish long-term, apply a UV-protective clear coat every 2–3 years or use a quality automotive sealant designed for clear coats.

Should I seal the carbon fiber edges where the panels meet?

Yes. The edges where two carbon pieces meet are exposed to moisture and dirt. Before installation, apply a thin bead of clear silicone sealant or UV-stable epoxy along the seams where the fenders join. This prevents water ingress and keeps the layup protected long-term.
