All the functionality of a conventional padlock, without the keys! With an integrated 180mAh rechargeable battery, this padlock is personalised to your fingerprints (or any one else you allow access to), so you don't have to worry about carrying - or worse still - losing your keys! The Smart Padlock supports up to 10 different fingerprints, with the first fingerprint functioning as the Admin User, who can add new fingerprints or reset the padlock back to factory default.

I'll have to admit, I was a little skeptical at first. I was worried that the fingerprint reader would be too unreliable to make the padlock useful, or that the build quality would fall short of meeting the security brief... but I have to say I was wrong. From the very first moment I picked up the padlock it impressed with a solid construction, strong shackle and a reliable fingerprint reader that far exceeded my expectations! It not only reads my prints reliably, but it works scanning your print at any angle (not just the angle you first recorded it).

For me, the use cases for a lock like this are many and varied. Here in the Cable Chick office we have some storage units which we like to keep locked, and all staff were able to be registered for easy access. Believe me, for someone who has to carry around more keys every day than I'd like, this is a huge win as my fingerprint is always on me!

Meanwhile at home, I have some display cabinets which can now be locked to stop little people from prying, my TV wall mount is securely locked in position, and the letterbox is now secured without me needed to have the key on hand to check the mail!

I think all my first-world problems have no been solved! :-)

Simple, reliable operation - No apps or devices required!

I really like that fact that you get all the security of a standard padlock here, without the need to carry around another key. While some other smart-locking devices offer similar function by apps or bluetooth connections, I personally have no need to open a padlock that I'm not standing in front of, and I like the fact that my lock won't become redundant the day a controlling app becomes unsupported. This products wins me over with smart simplicity!

Set Up and Programming Your Fingerprints

In it's factory default setting, any finger scanned will unlock the padlock. To start adding fingerprints, simply follow the below steps:

1. Hold your finger on the reader for 5 seconds until the LED indicator changes (the first fingerprint will be the Admin User for operating the device).
2. Now press and release the a finger multiple times (5-10) to program a new print. The LED indicator will signal once the reading of the print is complete.

Adding more fingerprints:

1. With the Admin fingerprint, press on the reader for 5 seconds.
2. Once the LED Indicator starts flashing BLUE, press and release the new fingerprint to be read 5-10 times until programming is completed (the LED will flash GREEN).

Performing a Factory Reset

1. To factory reset the padlock, and remove all stored fingerprints, press and hold the Admin User's fingerprint for 20 seconds until the RED indicator lights stays on.
2. Then release and read the Admin User's print one more time to reset.
