Vintage 40s cotton stripe day dress.

Medium weight off white 100% cotton gauze with a square neckline, nipped waist and gathered skirt as pictured.

The square neckline and around the bottom of the skirt feature red, green, blue and yellow stripes as pictured.

The front bodice features vertical darting. The skirt is gathered all around where it is sewn to the waist as pictured.

Pulls on over the head - closes with a 6" left side metal zipper, and 7 self covered domed buttons down the back bodice as pictured. The bottom button is a replacement.

Short sleeves are lightly gathered at the top. Unlined. No pockets.

I'm 5'4" and this comes to just below my knee which is a common length during the 40s due to wartime fabric conservation.

DESIGNER LABEL: No labels as this is handmade by a skilled seamstress.

CONDITION: Excellent with no odors, discoloration, stains, fading, snags, pulls, holes, or runs.

Gently worn and very well cared for. Freshly cleaned and ready to wear.

SIZING: There are no size tags. Based on the measurements below, this dress will best fit a modern size Small.

Shoulders: 14-1/2" Across

Outer Sleeves: 9-1/2"

Inner Sleeves: 2-1/2"

Bust: 34" - Underarm to Underarm - Due to gathering at the waist.

Waist: 27"

Hips: Up to 52" - Due to gathering at the waist.

Bodice Length: 16-1/2" - Top of Shoulder to Waist Seam

Skirt Length: 21-1/2 - Waistline to Bottom Hem

Bottom Sweep: 65" Around
