Gorgeous Edwardian wool walking suit in navy blue with colorful trim on collar and cuffs. The coat features a black satin sewn down collar with lovely embroidered trim on the front and back. The satin and embroidered trim can also be found on the cuffs of the sleeves, along with a large button that looks like mother-of-pearl. The coat has the same buttons down the front but they are decorative and it does not close with them. A very attractive floating panel from the shoulders extends to the waist in front and back. It is trimmed with a black checked and striped tone on tone cord-like trim. The same trim is found on the front of the skirt. The back of the jacket is as attractive as the front, featuring a lovely draping in the center under the attached belt which closes in front with two hooks and eyes. The coat is fully lined with black satin.

The skirt is unlined. It closes with a hook at the waist and four large snaps down the back. The front features four pleats sewn down to about mid calf.

The suit is in remarkable condition. There is one button on the left cuff that has broken a little on one side. The lower point of the left collar needs to be tacked down.

This was acquired from an estate of a woman who had taken a Grand Tour of Europe in 1907 and this is likely from that tour.
