Vintage 1950s Bes-Ben Hat in Brown Velvet

A beauty from the Mad Hatter of Chicago millinery himself.
This close hat hugs the hat and is cut in a petal shape in brown velvet trimmed in the plastic tubing he was known for around the perimeter (in matching brown). The very top is open and traversed with more plastic tubing that are also used to create bows on either side of the head. There is a brown veil over the entire exterior. Interior has a petersham throughout. No Bes-Ben tag, but it has been verified as authentic by the author of the one monograph on the great hat maker, as it bears all of the hallmarks of the designer.

Condition: very good with no visible issues. Even the veil, usually in tatters of hats from this era, appears completely intact.
