This delightful TT:120 scale LB&SCR A1/A1X 0-6-0 Terrier Steam Locomotive model features the highly accurate 2025 tooling suite. A beautiful representation of the ever-popular Class A1, the model perfectly captures the diminutive character of the prototype, and has been designed for smooth and reliable operation, including provision for digital command control via a 6-pin decoder socket. This particular example depicts No.735 in London and South Western Railway Lined Green livery.
Fifty of the Stroudley ‘Terriers’ were built between 1872 and 1880 for south London commuter services by the LB&SCR. By 1898, they were already being replaced by bigger locomotives and 23 of the class were withdrawn over the next seven years. Most were sold for further work, including two to the London & South Western Railway for working the Lyme Regis branch.
No. 735 started life as No. 68 Clapham, moving to the L&SWR in March 1903, but wasn’t a success in Dorset and was soon moved away for other duties. Reboilered in 1911, it was fitted with motor-train gear for use on the three-mile Leigh-on-Solent branch in Hampshire. It was absorbed into SR stock in 1923, to be reunited with its original class members, but was withdrawn in December 1936 and scrapped.
