A Superb Vintage Rolex 5513 with a Gilt Underlined Dial and Caramel Patina in New Old Stock Condition and the Coveted Pointed Crown Guards - c.1963
The Rolex Submariner 5513 was introduced in 1962 and quickly became a cornerstone of the brand’s dive watch legacy. Built for durability and clarity underwater, it featured a no-date dial and evolved through subtle design changes over its 27-year production run. From gilt dials to matte finishes, the 5513 is prized for its vintage charm and tool-watch purity. Discontinued in 1989, it remains a favourite among collectors for its classic proportions and iconic simplicity.
OFFERS IN THE REGION OF…
Due to the rarity and collectability of this particular Rolex 5513 — featuring the highly sought-after underline dial — we have chosen not to display a definitive public price.
Unfortunately, we've had to revise our original approach after some users committed the watch to their cart under the assumption it was available for £0.00. As a result, we’ve temporarily set a placeholder price online. However, this is not the actual price but a guide price.
We welcome serious enquiries and invite you to contact us directly to discuss and agree on a final price. This allows us to provide proper context around the watch’s provenance, condition, and its place in the current market — all essential factors in determining its true value.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out for more information — we’d be happy to assist.
What's on Offer
We are delighted to offer this truly remarkable Rolex Submariner 5513, manufactured in 1963 and sold in 1964—retained by a single owner ever since. A rare opportunity to acquire a New Old Stock (NOS) example of one of Rolex’s most iconic references.
This piece features a stunning gilt glossy dial with the desirable ‘underline’ marking, denoting a transitional period in luminous material use. The dial is in superb condition, boasting a naturally aged caramel patina that’s even and richly warm across all plots.
Adding to its early charm are the pointed crown guards, found only on the earliest 5513s, giving this example historical significance and collectability in equal measure. Housed in a sharp stainless steel case with thick lugs and its original rotating bezel, the watch retains its purposeful Submariner aesthetic while offering outstanding vintage character.
This watch has only ever had the case back opened by VWS owner Javid and our esteemed watchmaker.
This is a special piece for discerning collectors—a time capsule from Rolex’s golden dive watch era.
