This iconic 1960s wiggle dress resembles the ones Twiggy was often photographed wearing. It features spaghetti straps, fitted boning in the bodice (giving it an almost corset-like structure), and hand-embellishment of pearls and sequins along the neckline. The fabric is a gorgeous pink Doupionini. Doupionini (or Dupioni) is an Italian method of crafting silk that results in a gorgeous texture with substantial slub, and a natural iridescence. The name is derived from the fact that it is produced from "double" cocoons that are nested together, which creates an irregular texture. Naturally occurring double nesting is a rare event, so this fabric traditionally is much more valuable than a regular silk.
