In 1969, Tudor made a significant leap in the design of its Submariner line by introducing the distinctive "Snowflake" handset with references 7016 and 7021. This innovative update marked a departure from the traditional Rolex style, infusing the brand's timepieces with a unique identity. The snowflake hands were characterized by their bold, angular shapes, which enhanced legibility and added an element of rugged sophistication to the watch face.
What's on Offer
Originally designed at the request of the French Navy, for whom Tudor manufactured these watches throughout the 1970s, the ‘Snowflake’ hands have since become a highly collectable variation of the classic Submariner—and this example is no exception.
The square hour markers have aged beautifully, developing a light, even caramel patina that, along with the subtle ageing on the hands, creates a warm, vintage character on the dial. The date aperture at 3 o'clock remains easily legible under the Cyclops, adding to the watch's practical charm.
The case remains true to its original form retaining its sharp, robust, and sleek profile. Minor cosmetic marks on the case are present, as expected from a vintage tool watch, but they are nothing to be concerned about. The black bidirectional bezel is in excellent condition, with the original tritium pip still intact. Altogether, it's a beautifully preserved piece.
An impressive example of Tudor’s iconic tool watches which has survived the attrition that many don’t, this Submariner is now an undeniably collectable and beautiful timepiece.
The watch was recently serviced by our watchmaker and runs very well and comes with a 12 month warranty for your peace of mind.
