This teal silk satin beauty comes with the kind of provenance you cannot fake. It was handmade with care by one of our New Zealand collectors who wore it to a ball, then it headed off to Australia for a wedding when her granddaughter gave it a second turn around the dancefloor. Now she is in her 90s and would love it to go on and start another tradition in a new family.

The cut is pure special-occasion theatre, without being fussy. A clean, shaped bodice and short sleeves keep the upper half elegant and wearable, while the skirt is all about sculpted drape and volume, gathered into soft swags that move beautifully as you walk. The colour is that rich teal that plays nicely with gold, pearls, crystal, or a bold lip and a simple up-do.
