Following up on our previous post from the Spring/Summer 1997 Runway, this blazer boasts a truly intriguing and innovative design. It strays away from the traditional blazer aesthetic, featuring just one sleeve and an open side. An overlapping fabric panel can be buttoned up in various ways, offering a versatile array of silhouettes for this piece. In addition to two front-facing pockets, this blazer also includes two pockets in the back, a subtle yet distinctive touch that sets it apart. The striking red color and metallic buttons further enhance the overall quality of this garment.
Throughout the runway show, various iterations of traditional formal clothing garments were presented with a twist. For example, blazers with one sleeve and dresses that could be buttoned up in unique ways to completely alter their silhouette were featured. Striped patterns were also used creatively to offer striking contrasts, appearing in unexpected places such as the socks and interior linings of various garments. Some designs even involved restructuring pieces, turning them inside out or folding parts of the dress to create a beautiful contrast on the shoulders and waist.
