A long generously cut open front dressing robe, from a pattern developed from an extant 19th century French hand loomed linen robe in my possession. 

Fullness gathered into the shoulder yokes, with a small collar fastened at front neck with two tasseled  linen ties. Body of robe cut in one piece across the width with the original hand sewn seaming detail incorporated. Slightly tapered sleeves set in with underarm gussets for ease of movement and two top stitched patches pockets. 

Constructed from an antique off white French linen heirloom sheet with a really exquisite hand-embroidered small monogram feature adorning the lower back of the robe towards the hem. Meticulously sewn. A lighter weight linen with a wonderful drape and handle. A gorgeous texture, cool and comfortable against the skin. The quality of these rare to find antique linens is extraordinary and just gets better the more it is washed. It makes a fabulous house robe, beach cover up, or can be worn just to drift around artistically…
 Unlined, with enclosed French seam construction throughout for comfort and durability. Hand felled hems and facings. 

Please note; you can choose to have this as an open fronted robe to be worn over another garment, or I can close the centre front for you before dispatch so it is worn as a nightshirt style dress (shown in first image). Please make sure you choose the option you prefer.

Although this piece is made as an open fronted robe, it would be possible to form a seam at the centre front so it could be worn as a dress or long nightshirt. I can do this here at the studio for no extra charge, so just me know in a note at checkout if you’d prefer this option. 

The ingredients Please be aware that these unique pieces are created from antique and vintage textiles, which have had a previous life, so consequently there may be the odd very minor smudge or pilling to the surface. These in no way impinge on their beauty, and you can be sure that they do not compromise the integrity of the material. Our textiles are cleaned and checked for flaws prior to making, and we cut around any significant marks.
Any area of actual damage or thinning is repaired with a tiny embroidered patch using a visible mending technique (one of my favourite features!), and this is always clearly mentioned in the description. These should be seen as an enhancement to the garment, and a sign of the textile's previous life and history. 

This is a deliberate choice to fit in with our ethos of creating beautiful garments with minimal impact on the planet.

Sizing As the fit of all these garments is meant to be loose and fluid it provides a fair bit of flexibility on sizing.

For this particular robe, I have designated it a medium. However the very relaxed fit and loose style means that it could work very well for a range of sizes. 

I have given the actual garment measurements below so you can ascertain for yourself how it will work with your own measurements. Remember to double these figures to give maximum circumferences, and that these pieces are meant to be loose fitting, so allow a generous amount of room over your particular body measurements

Nape to hem; 136cms / 53” This is the maximum finished length but I can shorten for you prior to dispatch free of charge, just indicate in a note at checkout your preferred finished length.

 Care; This linen can be machine or hand washed, and should be dried naturally on the line. No fabric conditioner.

Packaging Garments are dispatched in acid free tissue paper and recyclable cardboard boxes sealed with kraft paper eco tape. These are placed inside pouches for weather protection during transit which are made entirely from an environmentally friendly compostable bio-plastic created from sugar-cane.
