The name of this variety is Whittet, which is an improved Kikuyu variety. This seed has a Turbocote germination enhancing coating. Turbocote is a moisture absorbent coating that adds benefits and weight to the seed to improve sowing.

WARM SEASON GRASS:
Turbocote Kikuyu thrives in warmer months. In some states where temperatures drop significantly it will go into dormancy, where growth is limited and discoloration can occur. Colour and growth will re-establish when warmer weather returns, however oversowing with a cool season grass can provide all year round colour in colder states prior to winter dormancy.

Turbocote Kikuyu FAQs
The best time to sow Kikuyu grass in Australia is during the warmer months, typically from spring to early summer (around September/October to December). In Melbourne the best time to sow is Late October as soil temperatures are still very low in early Spring. Alternatively sow early Autumn with enough time to establish before any significant drop in temperature in your location.
Kikuyu grass seed usually germinates in about 7 to 14 days, depending on temperature and moisture. Warmer, well-watered conditions speed up germination, while cooler or drier conditions can slow it down. Once it starts growing, Kikuyu establishes quickly.
Kikuyu grass grows and spreads out easily, making it great for a thick, green lawn. It spreads through runners on the surface and roots below ground, meaning it needs maintenance around edges or garden beds.
You can oversow your kikuyu lawn with an annual ryegrass for the winter. This will keep your lawn looking green when temperatures are very low. The annual will phase out when it gets hot again.
