A real showstopper, home made 1930s evening dress in deco daisy print cotton with taffeta godets or  inserts.

Bias cut, it’s an over the head design - but side snaps could be added for ease if desired. I *think* I’ve arranged the taffeta as intended over the bust! There are some stitch marks where it was once attached at the corners as shown, but I haven’t reattached as would make entry even more difficult..

Overall impression is great and it’s clean and completely wearable, but it has various minor flaws so selling as is. I’d have priced this a good but higher if in better shape! Please read condition report throughly.

Waist bias gives up to 34 (needs to go over bust!), then self fabric half ties to rear to adjust to fit

I soaked this as it had some really bad staining around the hem where it had what looked like fountain pen ink patches! Amazingly (with white vinegar!) the colours didn’t run, and it is now much better.

There was some age yellowing to the white of the print on the body of the dress, and I’ve photographed the slightly patchy areas remaining. They have lessened enough to not be obvious but are still there, I got bored of soaking, sorry.

There are a few small repairs, as shown

The back ‘strap’ in the middle has been secured but could possibly be redone - or even add some vintage French jet beads to disguise the reinforced join? It’s perfectly strong.

There are some small holes in the taffeta around the hem, and some very slight marks to shoulders but not at all obvious due to cut. 

Side seam has been hand stitched closed - wondered if this is where there were originally snaps. I got it on the mannequin ok without due to the bias cut, but could reinstate for added ease. I did get a friend to try it on to make sure it is possible with all the taffeta loops!
